Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 September 2026
Studyle is library management software. This policy explains what information Studyle holds, why, and your choices. Your library is the owner of its data; Studyle stores and processes it on the centre's behalf.

Information we hold

Account: your name, email, phone number, role (owner or student), and a securely hashed password. Passwords are never stored in readable form. If you sign in with Google, Studyle stores your Google account identifier instead of a password.
Student records (entered by your centre): name, contact details, membership plan, seat, shift, join date, and any custom fields your centre adds.
Centre information: centre name, address, contact details, UPI ID, and an optional centre logo.
Attendance: the days you were marked present or absent and, where applicable, a check-in time.
Payments and receipts between students and their centre: amount, method, date, plan, status, and the receipt number and a fixed snapshot of the details as they were when the payment was confirmed. These are records kept by the centre — Studyle does not process these payments.
Studyle subscription (centre owners): when an owner pays for a Studyle plan, the payment is processed by Razorpay or by Google Play. Studyle stores the plan, amount, status, dates and the payment or order reference it receives from them. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by Razorpay or Google and are never received or stored by Studyle.
Device and security data: if you turn on notifications, a push-notification token for your device. Your IP address is used to limit repeated sign-in, password-reset and similar attempts; it is kept only for the length of that limit (at most one hour).
On the Studyle website, your sign-in session and recently loaded data are kept in your browser’s local storage until you log out. Studyle does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How it is used

To run the centre: attendance, seating, memberships, payment records, receipts, and reports.
To send you in-app notifications (for example, a confirmed payment or a seat-request decision) and, if you turn it on, device push notifications.
To show you your own digital student ID and let you share it as a PDF from your device.

Device permissions

Camera: only when you open a QR scanner (to check in, or for an owner to look up a student). Nothing is recorded.
Photos: only when you choose to attach a photo (profile picture, payment proof).
Location: only if your centre turns on location-based attendance, and only at the moment you tap to mark attendance. See "Location and attendance" below.
Notifications: optional; used only for the alerts described above.

Support requests, issues and feedback

When you report a centre issue, the report is linked to your account so the centre can follow up and so you can track it. The centre sees the category, your description, an optional photo you attach, your seat at the time, the status, and any messages exchanged.
If you choose "Report anonymously", your name and photo are hidden from the centre in the app. Studyle still records which account made the report, for security and to prevent abuse — anonymous means hidden from centre staff, not untraceable.
A photo you attach to an issue is uploaded to the same image host used for other photos in the app and is kept while the issue is worked on and for the centre’s records afterwards.
Centre feedback (a 1–5 rating and an optional comment) is shown to the centre as an average and a list of comments, without your name. One feedback entry is kept per student and is updated if you submit again.

Location and attendance

A library can choose to require that students are physically at the centre to mark attendance. This is off unless the centre turns it on.
When it is on, the app reads your device location once — at the moment you mark attendance — and sends it to Studyle so the server can check whether you are within the area the centre set. The app does not track your location in the background or at any other time.
Studyle uses this reading to allow or refuse that one check-in. It is not saved as a location history. Your attendance record stores only the date, status, and check-in time — never coordinates.
The centre owner sets the centre location and the allowed distance. Neither the owner nor students see raw coordinates anywhere in the app.
If you deny the location permission, location-based check-in cannot be completed, but the rest of the app continues to work. Your centre can also mark your attendance manually.

Children

Studyle is for people aged 13 and over. A student aged 13 to 17 may use Studyle only with the consent of a parent or guardian, which the library is responsible for obtaining.
We do not knowingly hold data about children under 13. If you believe we do, contact us and we will delete it.

Data sharing

Each centre’s data is isolated. One centre can never see another centre’s students, payments, attendance or receipts.
Studyle uses these service providers to operate the service, and they process data only to provide these functions: MongoDB Atlas (database), ImageKit (photos and logos), Brevo (sign-in, verification and reminder emails), Hostinger (website and server hosting), Razorpay and Google Play (Studyle subscription payments), Google (Google Sign-In), and Expo with Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications).
Studyle does not sell your data and does not use it for advertising.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to a centre’s data requires a signed session token, and every request is checked against your role and your centre. Repeated sign-in and reset attempts are rate-limited.
To report a security problem or a suspected data breach, email support@studyle.in with “Security” in the subject.

Data retention

Records are kept for as long as your centre uses Studyle, because attendance and payment history need to remain accurate over time. Removing a student keeps their historical payment and attendance records but revokes their login.
A centre owner can delete their account and centre at any time from the app (More → Settings → Account). This permanently deletes the centre and its students, attendance, payment records and other data. Records of payments made to Studyle for the Studyle subscription are kept for accounting, without the link to your personal account. See studyle.in/legal/account-deletion.

Your choices

You can edit your phone number and profile photo in the app. Owners can edit centre details.
To request a copy of your data, a correction, or its deletion, email support@studyle.in from your account’s email address. We reply within 30 days. Deletion requests are handled subject to the centre’s own record-keeping obligations.
Centre owners can delete their account and centre themselves in the app: More → Settings → Account → Delete my account.
